MouseHints

"Don’t anthropomorphize computers, they hate it." - Anonymous

Computers have individual personalities. You know it (and they know it too.) They’ll work fine for weeks, more or less, and then they seem to have gotten up on the wrong side of the desk.

Well, they haven’t - and they don’t. It usually turns out that there’s a logical explanation that usually involves the person operating it (we promise.) And while we can’t fix every problem that comes up, we can help by giving you some tips on computer use that isn’t delivered in a sterile manner.

Sign up for our new weekly newsletter, MouseHints. Individual subscriptions are only $9.95 for a full year of 52 issues - and for IT Professionals, teachers, administrators and tech buyers it’s FREE. Corporations and Educational Institutions can sign up for a year of MouseHints, and then add their logo and messages for a professional in-house look for only $149 for a full year (Education price is $99).

So what’s in MouseHints?
Around our office, as someone finds a new tip, trick or just cool thing that they found out about a program (or something to watch out for), we post it on our bulletin board. Turns out that sometimes every single person in the office was doing wildly different steps to accomplish the same task (and you’d be amazed at how complicated some people can make things!) It also turns out that we have enough of those items that we thought it was time to share – and so MouseHints was born. You’ll no doubt be surprised at how much easier certain things are (that you’ve been accidentally complicating for years.)

Each calendar month we focus on a single Application or Operating System and give hints, tips, and even a little trivia about it in each weekly issue. It will help your users be more efficient, give them something to think about, and give them some other resources. And since it’s short, they’ll be able to quickly get through it just a few minutes each week.

MouseHints is laid out simply and cleanly - without the fluff that’s included in other, more expensive (and only monthly) newsletters.

So what can you do with MouseHints?
Print it out and fold it in with your employee’s paychecks for a professional insert (they’ll still probably like the check more, though).

E-Mail it to employees on a weekly basis and add your own messages (e.g. don’t forget to download your email BEFORE Friday night as we’re upgrading the server and all messages left on will be lost)

Print them out and put them in every teacher’s mailbox for a weekly reminder from their friendly IT department (no, your computers don’t fix themselves!)

Or save your copy and when your computer crashes for no reason, don’t hit it. Just press the power button and while it restarts read your trusty issue of MouseHints. You’ll feel refreshed and your computer will feel better.
